Hayes on Brumbies - Cressy, Tasmania
Become a Bamboo Rodmaker and make your own fly rod!
Have you been interested in how split cane bamboo rods are made, but thought it was something beyond you? Wrong!!! With the right tools and instruction, anyone can make their own bamboo fly rod. We have had everyone from fifteen year old girls, to people in their seventies come and make wonderful rods to fish and keep for a lifetime. No woodworking or other rodmaking experience is required. We have had several couples attend, and more than 50 percent of students from the first year of classes in 2015 returned to make another rd in 2016! Other students have used the skills they acquired to continue rodmaking on their own.
Courses are limited to 4 students, and run for 5 days at Peter Hayes Lodge on Brumbies Creek. Information on 2017 Classes, class photos from previous classes, and the schedule for 2017 are below. Places are already filling, so get in early to avoid missing out.
